Tours, Sightseeing, Activities? Here are my Top 10 Things To Do While in Calgary
Calgary consistently occupies the Economist’s ‘Top 10 Most Liveable Cities in the World’ list, so it’s no wonder that this city is a sought after destination for both tourists and immigrants.
Probably the easiest way to see the highlights of the city is to join a tour and there are a number of tour options available.
Brewster Vacations
offer a daily four hour guided motorcoach tour throughout the summer.
Book Airport Shuttles Here!
If self guided is more to your preference,
Cowboy Bus
has a great hop-on hop-off service that is both cheap and efficient. For those looking for something a little different, why not experience a helicopter tour (Mountain View Helicopters), walking tour, ghost tour, aboriginal tour(Good Luck Tours) or even a food tour.

Calgary Tower
is one of city’s must see attractions. At 1228 metres above sea level, the tower has the highest 360 degree observation deck in the world!
For history buffs,
Heritage Park Historical Village
, a living history re-enactment village and Fort Calgary, the original location of the North West Mounted Police fort built in 1875; are both great places to visit at any time of the year.
Looking for a place to take the family? Calgary Zoo and the TELUS World of Science will keep kids of all ages entertained with educational displays and interactive programs. Alternatively take in the rides, games, stage shows, events and retail outlets at Calaway Park, just outside the city.
If you want to be a little more active, the city is nestled next to the Bow River and there are a number of interconnected river valley trails, perfect for walking, biking and roller-blading. The city is also dotted with many scenic picnic areas and parks.
The Olympic Park hosted the Winter Olympics in 1988 and is now a training facility for high performing athletes. This facility is a haven for a multitude of adventure activities year round including zip-lining, mountain biking, mini golf, climbing, spiderweb and eurobungy. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and bobsleigh.
During your visit, don’t forget to look out for those lesser-known city secrets that often only the locals know about; pick up fresh vegetable at the Farmers Market, enjoy a locally brewed beer at the Wild Rose Brewery, purchase traditional western cowboy boots at the Alberta Boot Company and a traditional white cowboy hat at the Smithbilt Hats, view the largest musical artefacts collection in the world at the Cantos Music Foundation or watch a Calgary Flames hockey game.
Phew! Is it any wonder that it is in the top 10!
